Shop-shop-till-you-drop may be a Singapore phrase but you do not necessarily have to confine yourself to Singapore to do so! If you want to escape it all and have some cash to spend here a run-down:
Malaysia
- Kuala Lumpur (West Malaysia); KL, for short, is not Singapore and it is not Bangkok either, you'll either love it or not but there is definitely no shortage of shopping malls, decent to good hotels and pubs and clubs. A good way to get rid of some surplus energy or cash.
China
Hong Kong; still a lure to many and one of the closer China destinations from Singapore. It is a unique city still with, apart from the shops, interesting sights such as the 'escalator street' and the train to 'the Peak' as well as its doubl-decker trams. With children there is off course also Disney Land and the Seaworld theme park.- Shanghai; Though a near 6-hour flight from Singapore it is not impossible for a short trip and this arguably is China's most modern city and you will find everything you can find elsewhere including a large pedetrian shopping area with the big international names, every hotel that means something is also present at least once so you'll not be short of anything. How is this different from Singapore then? Well, it is China and the look and feel are quite a bit different. Also it has four seasons so take care when you want to go.
