If you are moving to Singapore and want to bring along your dog, cat or fishes please note Singapore has laws related to the import of animals, which includes pets. Apart from endangered species, the import of some breeds of dogs is also not allowed.
The 'import' of pets falls under the Agri-food and Veterinary Authority (AVA), do check their website. Note that unless you are coming from the UK, Ireland, Australia or New Zealand your pet will have to be quarantined and that the minimum period is 30 days.
We have mentioned this in other parts of the site but Singapore is very urbanised and rather warm. So when you are considering bringing you pets over take this into consideration, your dog may have limited space for a daily walk or run-around. If you live in an area where there is such space you may wonder whether your polar dog with fur suited for -35 degrees celcius and wind will enjoy Singapore's +32 degrees with high humidity.
If you are not bringing your own pet but would still like one, take a look at the SPCA website or on the supermarket pinboards, not all leaving expats can bring their pets back.
Also note that the type of pets you are allowed to keep depends on the type of your accommodation and its rules.
Though you may not see large numbers of pets on the streets in much of the city they are there and there are quite a number of petshops and clinics to take care of your animals.
