Moving here
We are not able to tell you much about your move to Singapore, you will have to make arrangements with an international mover at your own end. If you intend to move to Singapore with your whole household we want to bring the following to your attention (though the mover should have done that too): - You cannot bring in alcohol or tobacco - Videos / VCD / DVD and the like you want to bring in are subject to review by the censorship board which will charge you a fee - If you want to bring in your own car or motorbike please note that Singapore drives on the left and that you will have to purchase a Certificate Of Entitlement before you can use it (see our Transport section for more details) - The tv-system here is PAL - Power is 220 V AC and ‘British type’ three-prong plugs are used. If you have different plugs you may want to consider bringing some multiple extension chords along so you only need 1 converter plug for, for instance, your PC set-up. More details on what is allowed to be brought into Singapore can be found on the Singapore Customs website under the 'Travellers' section.
Moving inside Singapore
Cross Roads compiles comparison quotes from various movers in line with your service and budget expectations. Only one professional pre-move survey by Cross Roads is required to receive a set of quotes from three to five respectable movers. The service comes with independent, professional advice on your move. No further surveys are necessary. The service comes at no additional or hidden costs!
Leaving
Why do we put leaving under ‘making it home'? Probably for the same reason Microsoft put ‘shut down’ under ‘start’, we’re not sure where else to put it. But since you are an expatriate you will probably be leaving at some point. There are plenty of international movers active in Singapore and there is a good chance your company will make arrangements but we know this is not always the case. If you are looking for a good international mover you can look at the one that handled your move here at this end, they are probably part of one of the international networks and can arrange you move out too (assuming you were happy with them to start with). As mentioned before, you may want to consider at least 1 competing quote, and to do that easily why not contact Cross Roads Your Moving Facilitator.
