The media in Singapore are all subject to censorship. Movies are rated and cuts can be demanded to give certain ratings, magazines have to adhere to certain guidelines and you won't see the Playboy or Penthouse in the magazine stands. In the past publications have been banned for longer or shorter times for overstepping their boundaries.
Not withstanding the above there is a slew of publications available in every segment of the market, both domesticly published as well as foreign. The same is true for radio and television, considering the small population there is a surprisingly large number of Singapore stations airing many locally produced shows. Channel News Asia for instance has a regional presence.
Singapore's no.1 newspaper is the English language Straits Times, also large in readership are the free 'Today' and 'Streats' commuter papers.
